SMH Half Marathon - Team Ride for Jase

Story

SMH Half Marathon takes place in Sydney on Sunday 21 May.  My friend and I will be doing the relay (ill attempt to run my first ever half marathon next time)  we are running in bid to raise money and awareness for mental illness, a cause of roughly 2577 deaths in Australia each year.

Why Ride for Jase??
In June this year, one month on from the run, my dear friend Ben Woods will attempt to cycle over 18000 kilometres around Australia in 180 days in memory of this brother Jase who lost his battle againist this illness in November 2015. This was a journey his brother Jase talked about making in life.

Be apart of someting great - Your support, no matter how big or small helps!
The Black Dog Institute, the chooen charity for Ride for Jase,  has a vision of a mentally healthier world and I have decided to make a difference by creating my very own fundraising appeal.
Through here you can easily support my efforts by making a secure donation.
I would also really appreciate it if you could share the team page above or comment below so more people know about it.

In memory of a brother lost
A cycling journey of 18000 kilometres in 180 days in a bid to raise money and awareness for the cause of roughly 2577 deaths in Australia every year. Everyone knows someone - or has been someone - who has suffered from anxiety and depression. If this journey can prevent even a single one of those deaths, the death of someone else's loved one, then it will be worth it. This is the journey Jase talked about making in life. His brother, Ben Woods, will do it for him, keeping him alive in his thoughts and heart through the 180 sunrises and sunsets the journey takes. Black Dog Institute

    Black Dog Institute

One in five Australians are affected by mental illness each year.

Mental illness can be overwhelming, crippling and isolating.

The Black Dog Institute is a not-for-profit organisation and world leader in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental illness such as depression, bipolar disorder and suicide.
We are the only mental health facility in Australia that combines clinical services, high quality translational research and education programs. We work to empower communities and help the stigma surrounding mental illness.

The Black Dog Institute has 4 important goals:
to diagnose mental illness accurately and early,
treat them using innovative, effective and accessible strategies,
prevent their onset by understanding why and who they affect
to reduce the overall impact of mental illness and save lives.

Black Dog Institute’s vision is for a mentally healthier world.
A world where the onset of depression and suicide can be prevented and treated. With your help we can make this vision a reality.
